The 2017 season kicked off last week for the local men’s soccer teams. Starmount took on South Iredell and South Stokes, while Forbush hosted Central Davidson, East Surry and Central Academy of Technology and Arts.

Forbush goes 3-0

The Falcons hosted Central Davidson last week in East Bend. The Falcons came out strong and earned a 3-1 win over their opponents. Forbush opened the scoring up in the 30th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Fifteen minutes later, the Falcons put the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. In the final half, Central Davidson was able to score one goal, but the Falcons put the game out of reach as they scored another goal. As the final whistle blew, Forbush earned its first win of the season.

The day after Forbush’s win over Central Davidson, the Falcons took on East Surry. Forbush dominated the whole game before earning a 6-1 win over the Cardinals.

On Monday night, the Falcons kept their winning streak alive with a 3-0 win over Central Academy of Technology and Arts. The Falcons once again made the most of the game by dominating possession.

With a 3-0 overall record, Forbush looks to keep its winning momentum with its next game. The Falcons take on North Davidson on Thursday night in East Bend.

Starmount is 2-0 to start season

Forbush isn’t the only men’s soccer team to hold an unbeaten record so far this season. The Starmount Rams are sitting 2-0 after two impressive wins this season.

The first game of the season saw the Rams battle a tough South Iredell team. It was a battle on the field and in the sky as Mother Nature put the game in a lightning delay. Both team’s brought out the best before the storm rolled in, as the Rams were able to take a 3-2 win.

On Monday night, Starmount followed up its first win with a 9-0 win over South Stokes. The Rams were able to score nine goals in 68 minutes to put the mercy rule into effect. The Rams earned their second win of the season for an overall record of 2-0.

Starmount hosted North Surry on Tuesday night. Results were not available by press deadline.
