Forbush softball continues winning streak

EAST BEND — The Forbush Falcons softball team has been on a winning streak over the last few weeks. On Friday night, the Falcons took a hard earned 3-2 win over West Forsyth. On Monday night, the Falcons took an 8-0 win over Glenn. With the wins the Lady Falcons move to 6-3 overall, and 3-0 in the Western Piedmont Athletic Conference.

Forbush 3 – West Forsyth 2

It was a tough eight-inning battle for the Forbush Falcons softball team on Friday night. Both teams left everything on the mound, as the pitchers put on a show. Through seven innings, the score remained 0-0.

In the top of the eighth, West Forsyth was able to bring two runners into score to take a 2-0 lead over the Falcons. In the bottom of the eighth, Forbush was able to answer back. With the bases loaded and two outs on the board, Alexis Collins hit a fly ball into right field for a triple. Collins’ hit brought Nevaeh Hemric, Davis Ann Wood and Sommer Gray across the plate for the Falcons.

Forbush put down the runs it needed to take a 3-2 win over West Forsyth. On the mound, Cati Mickles had two strikeouts for the Falcons.

Forbush 8 – Glenn 0

On Monday night, things were easier for the Falcons as they faced off against Glenn. The Falcons put down runs in the first, second, third, fourth and sixth innings. In the first inning, Kayleigh Williams stole home for the first run of the night. Her run was followed up with a run by Sommer Gray who scored off of an Alexis Collins RBI.

In the second, Lakyn Baity scored off of a hit by Gray for a 3-0 Forbush lead. The Falcons added two runs in the third and one in the fourth as Gracen Davis, Haley Morgan and Rycroft were brought across the plate.

The final runs came in the sixth inning as Carlee Barfield and Davis scored and Forbush was able to take an 8-0 win over Glenn.
